PEER REVIEW PROCESS

The Journal of Marine Resources and Coastal Management (MRCM) employs a rigorous Double-Blind Peer Review model for all submitted manuscripts.
1. Peer Review Model
In the Double-Blind Peer Review process, the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and conversely, the identities of the reviewers are concealed from the authors. This is done to ensure the evaluation of the manuscript is conducted objectively, impartially, and solely based on the scientific merit and scholarly contribution of the work.
2. Evaluation Stages and Criteria
1. Initial Editorial Assessment (Desk Review):
The Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial screening, typically within 7 days, to check for:

    • Scope: Strict adherence to the journal's Focus and Scope.
    • Format: Compliance with the basic Author Guidelines (word limit, structure, and citation style).
    • Ethics: Similarity Index (Plagiarism) below the maximum threshold of 20%.
    • Manuscripts failing this initial assessment will be immediately rejected (desk rejection) or returned for essential formatting revisions.
  1. External Review:
Manuscripts passing the initial assessment are sent to a minimum of two (2) external expert reviewers who are unaffiliated with the author's institution.
  2. Review Criteria:
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the significance of the topic, originality, methodological soundness, analysis of results, and overall scientific rigor.
  3. Final Decision:
The final decision (Acceptance, Major Revision, Minor Revision, or Rejection) is made by the Editor based on the recommendations and reports provided by the reviewers.
  4. Revisions:
Authors are given a fixed deadline to complete any necessary revisions. Revised manuscripts are then re-evaluated by the Editor and may be sent back to the original reviewers for a second round of evaluation.
