Abstract

Pilea microphylla grows wild in damp and shady places, spread in tropical and subtropical areas. Plants from the Urticaceae family are known to have high chemical content in the form of phenols and flavonoids, so they can be used as the main ingredients for antioxidants and diabetes mellitus drugs as well as traditional medicines to treat bacterial infections. To find out more about the utilization and bioactivity of the Katumpangan or Pilea microphylla, several studies from previous researchers are needed as a source of information. Entobotanically the Pilea microphylla plant is used as a traditional medicine for coughs, asthma, joint diseases, bronchitis, diarrhea in children, dysentery, stomach and intestinal diseases, diuretics, and treatment for wounds and bruises. The bioactivity of flavonoid compounds from Pilea microphylla extract is antimicrobial, antioxidant, antidiabetic and antidepressant
